Technical Lead – Embedded C++ with AI


Soliton is looking to bring onboard a Technical Lead for an Embedded C++ team being created, to work with one of the world’s leading semiconductor equipment manufacturers. This will be a technically challenging role working along with highly experienced Embedded C++ and systems architects in the US while guiding and programming alongside a team of very talented and motivated engineers in India. We have offices in Bangalore and Coimbatore, with work from home and hybrid options available.  


Soliton has been working with one of the world’s leading semiconductor equipment manufacturers for more than 5 years providing LabVIEW software services. We are now expanding to provide Embedded C++ services and building strong teams for this customer and others. We are looking to hire a talented C++ engineer to provide technical leadership. We have an established AI team in Soliton, and we are expecting the Technical Lead to work with our customer and our AI team to find novel and safe ways to leverage Generative AI to significantly enhance our productivity and quality.

The Technical Lead will have the opportunity to work directly with our customer’s engineers – some of the world’s most accomplished engineers with decades of experience in architecting and writing Embedded C++ code for sophisticated electro-mechanical equipment that cost many millions of dollars each!   • Design and develop software / firmware modules for high-reliability control applications.  
  • Develop SW/FW using C/C++ on Linux/RTOS to communicate with motion controllers using interfaces like Ethernet, RS-232 and/or USB.    
  • Work with multidisciplinary engineering teams, including electrical, mechanical, optics and other software teams to learn the domain and solve system level problems.  
  • Understand system level requirements and translate them into software designs and implementation plans.  
  • Define and execute test plans to measure the performance of key subsystems, analyse and present the results.  
  • Participate in all stages of software development, including design, implementation, deployment, testing, and troubleshooting.  
  • Work with SCM (Software Configuration Management) team to setup build environment and deployment framework.  
  • Quickly generate and evaluate design ideas by developing prototypes, develop robust designs, and turn them into production quality code for mission critical applications.  
  • Work with the team to develop groundbreaking and creative solutions to exciting problems rarely found elsewhere.  


  • Solid understanding of programming principles and basic engineering; we do not mandate any academic qualifications. 
  • Minimum of 5+ years of software programming, 3+ years of embedded programming, and 2+ years of Embedded C++ programming experience 
  • Strong knowledge of Linux/RTOS environment, multi-threading, synchronization, and a wide variety of design patterns for embedded applications.  
  • Knowledge of communication protocols like RS-232, Ethernet / EtherCAT /  TCP-IP socket / network communication and related programming.  

 Skills and Attitude:  

  • A high curiosity and learning quotient  
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.  
  • Excellent team player and collaborator with a strong interest in teaching and sharing.  
  • Leader who can get things done with creativity and perseverance and without violating the must follow rules (Soliton is extremely particular about protecting the customer’s confidential information).  
  • Basic knowledge in Linux administration and UML.  
  • Knowledge of Python or other scripting language.
  • Interest to learn about motion control systems; classical and modern control theory.  
  • Hands on experience and laboratory exposure to electrical, mechanical and optical measurement instruments will be a plus.  
  • Systems thinking based on first principles / foundational physics. 

 Work Location: 

  • Hybrid/Work from office (Bangalore/Coimbatore). 
  • Short term travel to customer’s engineering sites around the world when required.
