Smart Cameras

Soliton's Smart Camera 'Spot-It', also categorized as an embedded / configurable vision system, does not require a PC for its operation. A laptop computer (or a remote PC) is connected via Ethernet during the programming, and using a simple interactive interface, Spot-It is programmed to execute the specific image processing steps that are necessary for the task or inspection that has to be automated. After programming, the Laptop / PC can be disconnected from Spot-It and it runs in a stand alone mode.

Spot-It uses a high performance DSP for image processing and Soliton has developed an optimized image processing library called the 'Soliton Vision Library' which can be accessed through a menu from the programming / configuration tool called the 'Soliton Vision Artist' which comes bundled with Spot-It. Spot-It can directly interface with trigger inputs and external actuators through optically isolated Digital Input/Output lines for automatic ejection control.

The ease of use of Spot-It enables our customers to be able to install and program a vision solution on an existing assembly line or production machine in just one day. It can address a wide range of applications like -

. Presence / Absence Verification
. Position / Orientation / Alignment Verification
. Non-contact Poke Yoke
. Dimension Check (excluding CNC machined components)
. Sorting by Color / Size / Shape
. Color Code Verification
. Inspection of Labels / Packaging
. Surface Inspection for Defects like Dents, Scratches, etc.

Spot-It is positioned uniquely in the market because it in price it is close to a pattern matching system but in programming flexibility, it is closer to a high end programmable vision system.
