Dr. Ganesh Devaraj presents at the International Robots Vision and Motion Co
Every year, industry experts and speakers are invited by the organizers of the International Robots, Vision & Motion Control Conference to share their valuable insights in these fields to the conference participants. This year, Dr. Ganesh Devaraj, Managing Director & CEO of Soliton Technologies, Bangalore presented a research paper “Taking Control of Error Proofing Algorithms” in the Machine Vision track of the conference titled “Using Machine Vision for Traceability & Error Proofing”.

\r\nIn his presentation, Dr. Devaraj highlighted the growing trend of the use of smart cameras to address error-proofing (poka-yoke) applications in manufacturing industries. The presentation primarily focused on the image processing algorithms used to address error proofing applications. The principle idea was that while ''pattern matching'' is a very useful tool, it is not suitable to address many error proofing applications, and hence custom algorithms need to be developed. By studying 35 error proofing applications addressed using Soliton''s Smart Cameras, the most useful image processing algorithms for error proofing were identified. It was shown that only a small set of image processing algorithms (18) were used to address all 35 applications and even out of this limited set, only a few algorithms are used most often. These findings were also published in Vision Systems Design in an article titled “Applying Algorithms”.
