Dr. Ganesh Devaraj
Managing Director and CEO
Ganesh founded Soliton in 1998, and has since established the company as the leader in India in the business areas in which it operates. Soliton started business as the first Alliance Member of National Instruments (www.ni.com) in India, and Ganesh introduced Virtual Instrumentation, a concept pioneered by Texas based National Instruments, to manufacturing industries in the region. In parallel he also developed customers in the US for its offshore Virtual Instrumentation Software (LabVIEW) development services. The revenue grew at an average annual compounded rate of 60% during the first seven years. During this period, Soliton also established itself as one of the world's most innovative Virtual Instrumentation System developers by winning the most prestigious global award in this field a record three times (2000, 2001, and 2004). Soliton started a products division in 2005, and became the first company in India to manufacture Machine Vision Cameras and Smart Cameras. Soliton has established itself as the leading machine vision company in India. In all, Soliton has received over 25 technology awards for its innovative work and has built up an outstanding reputation for Quality, Integrity, and Customer Satisfaction.
Ganesh was selected as one of the '101 Successful Entrepreneurs of Tamil Nadu' by CII in 2008 based on the innovative work done by Soliton. He also was profiled by the India Today magazine as a new economy player to watch in 2001. Ganesh also serves on the Board of Directors of ELGI Equipments Ltd (www.elgi.com) and on the Board of Trustees of the PSG & Sons Charities, which manages the well known PSG College of Technology (www.psgtech.edu).
Previously, Ganesh worked as a Project Scientist at V I Engineering, Inc., Michigan, a leading National Instruments Alliance Member in the US. Ganesh received his Ph.D. in Theoretical Particle Physics (1996) and M.S. in Electrical Engineering (1992), both from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and his B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore.
From the age of 15, for a period of six years, Ganesh was fully involved in tuning racing engines and racing cars and he won the Grand Prix in the most competitive racing category in India in 1987, 88, and 89. Today his interest is in education, and he is keen to understand how multimedia could be used to improve the quality of education in areas where there is a scarcity of teachers.
Mrs. Mekhala Devaraj
Director
Mekhala holds an MS in Physics and an MS in Bio-Physics from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA. She is primarily responsible for the HR and Administration activities within the company.
Mekhala has overseen the execution of all the office establishment projects and marketing events of the company since its inception, through multiple rounds of growth and expansion. Today, she primarily focuses on recruitment.
Mr. Raj Balsamy General Manager
Raj is based in the US and manages a key customer relationship. He has been extraordinarily successful as an engineer and then as a manager in growing the business with all of the key anchor customers of Soliton during his 10+ years in Soliton.
Raj holds a Masters degree in Electronics Engineering, from the Coimbatore Institute of Technology and is a Certified LabVIEW Developer. He has developed many award-winning virtual instrumentation solutions for customers in India and the US.
Mr. G. Abdulla, General Manager - Onsite Operations, is based in the US and manages Soliton's onsite activities and customer relationships. Abdulla has been instrumental in building the robust processes being used for our offshore software development.
Abdulla holds a Bachelors degree in Computer Science from the Coimbatore Institute of Technology, and has a total of 10 years of experience developing computer based measurement and automation systems. A certified LabVIEW Developer, Abdulla has developed, during his 7 years at Soliton, numerous award-winning virtual instrumentation solutions, including the NIWeek 'Overall Best Application' of the year in 2000.
Abdulla has been instrumental in building the robust processes being used for our offshore software development. He is presently in the US, managing offshore LabVIEW projects for Soliton.
Mr. Swaminathan Kumaragurubaran General Manager – Emerging Businesses
Swami is responsible for identifying, planning, and executing new business initiatives that leverage Soliton's capabilities to enter new growth markets.
After obtaining his Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering from Anna University, Chennai, he worked in Reliance Industries Limited for two years, and then went to the US to obtain an M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines at Golden, where his research for Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation involved laser scattering and AFM studies for the characterization of copolymers.
After returning from the US, he joined Soliton in the year 2000 starting with technical sales and moving on to heading business development for Soliton. During the years 2006 and 2007, he headed the Engineering Services Division which is the India operation of the Test & Measurement Division. Swami also plays a key role in defining and enhancing the Soliton Culture.
Mr. Anish Mathews General Manager – Test & Measurement Division
Anish is based in the US and heads the Test & Measurement Division at Soliton. He holds a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from the PSG College of Technology in India and a Masters degree in Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. He works with a dedicated team of engineers to deliver world class Test & Measurement Automation solutions to Soliton's customers.
Prior to joining Soliton, Anish has held a variety of research and engineering roles with National Aerospace Labs, Jawaharlal Nehru Center for Advanced Scientific Research, and System Modeling & Experimentation Research Group at the University of Texas at Austin. He has also co-authored several award-winning papers, including the 'Overall Winner' of the Best Applications Contest at NIWeek 2004.
